This book is about railway locomotives in the Romanian territory since 1854 until 1918.

Serban LACRITEANU is one of the most important railway historians and until now he organized the whole material on this subject. In his effort to collect the most eloquent illustrations the author was helped by Ilie Popescu.

The first volume is presenting the history of the Romanian traction since the first locomotive was made for Oravita – Bazias line until the First World War was finished. The locomotives are presented as they operated in the historical geographical regions.
