I hope this news will make you pack your photo bag for a small adventure this weekend in Comandau. It doesn’t matter if you have been there last year too because this weekend a special mocanita will pull the train: 764-243. This forestry narrow gauge steam locomotive was built in 1911 in Budapest and until 1993 worked on the CFF Berzasca line. When the line was closed the locomotive was exported but in 2009 it came back to be repaired and to steam again in Romania. This precious mocanita locomotive was very nice repaired by the CFI Criscior workshops and now is the only Budapest type steam locomotive still working in Romania. Beside this one there is only one left, the 764-313 in CFF Viseu de Sus depot, but because it is very hard to repair it it’s hard to imagine if will see it running again. Meanwhile take this chance and go to Comandau to see this special mocanita running! |

Shorter Mocanita Trips on CFF Viseu |

| This week mocanita will run only from Viseu de Sus up to Novat due to the floods that affected the line in some upper parts. This route shortage is a safety measure in order to ensure a pleasant risk free travel for all tourists as well as for the train personnel. The line was not very badly affected, but there is a risk of infrastructure instability on some points. In order to ensure the maximum level of health and safety regulations for tourists, the administrators together with the mocanita trains organizers decided to restrict the access on the line, in Novat point (approx. 12,5 km). The reconstruction and maintenance activities are in progress and we hope the line will be reopened for tours to Paltin starting on Monday. We will keep you posted with progress of activities as soon as the information are made available. |

Special Mocanita Steam Train |

A special train will run on CFF Viseu de Sus on Saturday night. The full moon event will be celebrated in Paltin (21 km) where tourists can have a night picnic after a tour with mocanita. Unless the moon is too bright you won’t miss the place anyway as the camp fire will light the river bank while the grills prepare gourmet specialties. The beverages will have the right temperature as well. |

Mocanita 2010 Time Table and TariffsThese are the latest news regarding the 2010 mocanita time table and tariffs for CFF Viseu de Sus forestry railroad. Starting this year the steam trains are running on Sunday up to Paltin (21 km) as well. |

*Time is estimated. If larger groups or unknown problems on the line appears it might be possible for the train to be delayed. The tourists must be prepared for any kind of natural climacteric conditions that may appear during a daily trip as the line is passing one of the most wild walley in Romania. **Pupils up to 16 years old will travel for free accompanied by parents (family package). Children up to 6 years old may travel for free.
The arrival times are informative! Sometimes it is possible for the train to be late or to arrive back a few minutes early. The hours in the time table are not strict. |

The ticket office is located in the CFF Station (see the map) and it is open Monday to Sunday starting with 07.00 o’clock up to last customer.
Attention: because of the small
number of seats available in wagons on regular trains the organized groups
must send their request in writing a few days before the travel day. Without
this special reservation nobody can guarantee available seats on the train. Very important notice! All year long on this line there are productions trains running without a fix schedule but as wood company needs. For health and safety reasons people access on these trains is COMPLETELY FORBIDDEN! These tariffs, conditions and time table may be changed without prior notice.
