Railway enthusiasts can hardly wait
for some opportunities to see in action and shoot memorable steam
locomotives photos. Viseu de Sus is still the only place in Romania
where you can find several narrow gauge steam locomotives on a beautiful
original line. Another ingredients for a special Photo Week is
snow in springtime and for this we found some white places from Novat up to Faina.
On Monday, a noon leaving train took us to Faina pulled hard by
“Elvetia” (764-421) steam locomotive. Initial plan was to go only up to
Botizu, but some changes drove us to the place where people ware getting
ready for the evening fall. Enjoy the pictures!
More steam for the second day
traveling on Novat branch. First train left to Faina by diesel engine
and the second one went to Poiana Novat pulled by “Elvetia” steam
locomotive. The third train arrived to Novat delta pulled by “Mariuta”
and after taking some pictures we switch the trains. 764-421 left us
there and went back to Poiana Novat to bring down some other loaded
wagons. From Novat delta our train came down to Viseu pulled by 764-211
and we are hoping for a sunny Wednesday for our new trip to Faina.
A beautiful day! Early in the
morning first train left to Faina pulled by the 87-0032-0 diesel engine.
The second train was the production one pulled by Elvetia steam
locomotive heading to Faina too. The third one was a special
train pulled by Mariuta steam locomotive and went up to Faina. After all this
the motor coach took some wagons up to Novat. A beautiful steam
locomotive parade in the powerful spring sun. Pulled by Elvetia our
train went up to Suliguli because of some line maintenance and
for
tomorrow we are preparing cameras for a double traction to be made with
Mariuta and Krauss steam locomotives up to Cozia.
Today’s trip was up to Novat Delta
with both Mariuta and Krauss steam locomotives. From here Krauss
went back to Viseu depot and we traveled a little longer, a few
kilometers up on the route to Faina.
Sometimes spring, hard sun can be difficult. We left Viseu depot a
little late because some track reparations and the sun already changed
to the noon position. But on CFF Viseu each point and kilometer is so
beautiful that you might want to take pictures with the locomotives all
the time.
On the last day of the photo tour
we went by the motor coach in front of the production train pulled by
“Cozia 1” steam locomotive. We went up to Botizu and then the motor
coach left for Lostun and the steam train came down to Viseu. On the way
there ware some loading points on the line so first the locomotive had
to bring some wagons from the line to Paltin and then to make some
movements in Bardau.
The photo week was a success first because of the beautiful steam
locomotives and then because of the beautiful weather. Maybe on the next
photo week I will have the chance to take some shoots on the line to Comanu or Stevioara.
