Some snow but more steam! More steam from the locomotives on CFF Viseu de Sus, Maramures.

On the latest winter tour on this narrow gauge forest line deep in Carpathian Mountains steam locomotive “Bavaria” (764-435, Resita 1954) surprised us with beautiful dark-grey-white smoke as we travel to Comanu. Although there are only 42 kilometers from Viseu to Comanu the trip takes at least 8 hours. We tried to leave the depot as early as possible especially because in winter the light is so “expensive”.

On a normal trip with steam engine from Viseu to Comanu there are four or five water stops necessary. This is depending on how hard the train is and how much snow is on the line. On this photo trip we made much more stops and all the time the departure was a very nice show.
